You are being asked to participate in a research study. This form describes the purpose, procedures, risks and benefits of the study. After you review this form, we will ask you to check a box indicating if you agree to be in the study. We will send you an electronic copy of the consent form by email.
We are doing this study to understand how racial and cultural identities of young people ages 18-29 affect their reproductive health decision making and what kinds of information are used to inform those decisions. We also hope to gain an understanding of what safe, and supportive reproductive healthcare looks like for respondents. In this study, we define reproductive health as people being able to have a satisfying and safe sex life at the time of their choosing and the freedom to decide if, when and how to have children.
We hope to use the study findings to advocate for better and more positive sexual and reproductive healthcare for young people of color in the U.S. These questions will ask about your background and your experiences seeking reproductive health services. You can respond to the online survey using your own computer or phone at a time of your choice. The survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Once you finish the survey, you will receive a $15 gift card for your time. In total, 300 people in the United States will take part in this study.
We will not include names or identifying information of individual participants in any publications arising from this survey. If you would like to receive a summary of the results, be sure to mark yes to that question in the survey. Your email will not be shared with any other party. Your email will only be used for the purposes of receiving your signed informed consent form, gift card distribution and receiving the summary of the study results. The only persons authorized to review the data collected in this study are study staff and the Allendale Investigational Review Board.
Some of the survey questions may make you feel uncomfortable. You can refuse to answer any questions in the survey at any time and you may stop participating in the survey at any point. There may be no benefit to you for your participation. We hope your participation in this study may contribute to improving awareness about the reproductive health experiences of people of color in the U.S. and improving the service options available.
